Management accounting refers to internal reporting that supports management decision-making. This is different from financial accounting, which refers to external accounting. Management accounting is represented in SAP within the controlling (CO) module, and encompasses cost element accounting, overhead cost controlling, product cost controlling, and profitability analysis.
SAP S/4HANA introduces a number of simplifications and enhanced features to management accounting, thereby improving your management reporting capabilities. Most significant is the integration between FI and CO with the Universal Journal (introduced in Chapter 2), which creates consistency across internal and external reporting. This chapter details the changes across the sub-modules in controlling in SAP S/4HANA
